Netherlands: Day 9 and 10
Day 9
Sundaaaaay!
I woke up around 9:30 and read for an hour. Annie still wasn't awake so I decided to clean up the apartment while I waited for her. I ended up doing the dishes, sweeping the whole apartment, doing my laundry AND mopping the floors. This took from 10:30 until 3:00pm and Annie STILL wasn't awake. Turns out she was actually sick (yikes).
Since she didn't feel well, we decided to finish our 48 hours list another day. Instead we hung around the apartment for a while, I called my family and Annie read one of the books she bought in Amsterdam. She had said when she woke up that it was fine if I wanted to go out by myself so after about an hour I decided to go walk around.
I ended up walking to the Dom and sitting across from the doors to draw. It was really nice out and the sun was shining. Across from the Dom is a large stone archway that used to be part of the church before part of the building collapsed in a tornado. A busker sat at the edge of the archway, playing guitar while the music echoed through the square.
After drawing and listening to the guitar player for a long time, I went to get some supper. I brought my sketchbook along to a restaurant on the square. I sat around and tried to draw the flowers at my table while I waited for my food. (I got a cajun chicken stir fry with the BEST baby corn). After I finished drawing and eating I headed home.
Back at the apartment we watched a few more episodes of Pokemon and Annie dropped the open package of crackers, getting cracker crumbs ALL OVER THE CLEAN FLOOR. We both froze for a second and then burst out laughing.
Day 10
After work on Monday we had a thank you dinner for the team who organized our trip. We all walked to Raak! restaurant in the city centre. It was a super fun evening of camping stories and cheese sticks. There maaay have bit a little bit of googling images of Justin Trudeau, all in the name of learning about Canadian politics of course.
