Hi.

Thanks for visiting my little gallery. This site is my way of documenting my adventures, big and small, and sharing them with the world. I hope you leave this blog a little bit happier.

Galentine's Day Ideas from $ to $$$

Galentine's Day Ideas from $ to $$$

It's that time of the year again! No, not Valentine's day. GALentine's day!! Only one of the greatest holidays of the year. In the words of Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation character and foundress of Galentine's Day, it's all about "Ladies celebrating ladies". Galentine's is all about spending time with your girls and showing them how much you appreciate them. It's a day to celebrate the magic of female friendship. Here are a few ideas to help you and your girl gang have the greatest Galentine's yet, at any price point.

Free Activities

Host a movie marathon.

Invite your friends over to watch some of your group's old favourites. You can go for classic Disney movies, Harry Potter, or, if you want to stick with the Galentine's theme, go for movies like Clueless, The Princess Diaries or Legally Blonde. Or marathon Parks and Rec! Ask your friends to bring snacks or make something together out of whatever you've got in your house.

Have a DIY spa day.

You don't need to spend all your hard-earned cash to have a spa day with your friends. There's a million and one different homemade face and hair mask tutorials up on YouTube. Pick a few and you're ready to go! My favourite mask is made by mixing two big tablespoons of plain yogurt, two teaspoons of cocoa powder and one teaspoon of honey. It makes an amazing hydrating mask that smells just like chocolate, and it only takes a minute to whip up. 🍫 Combine this with manicures, pedicures or waxing each others brows if you really trust each other and you've got your very own spa experience.

$ Activities

Bowling

This one's a classic. Bowling is a great group activity that can be loads of fun without being loads of cash. Make sure to check your local bowling lane's price sheet, either in person or on their website. Going bowling outside of peak hours can save your group a lot of money. On some of the websites I checked, picking your time well could save you $20. Be sure to check for student discounts as well. A lot of places will have student pricing. Get those deals, girl!

Cards Tournament

Dig up that old deck of cards from out of your drawer and host a tournament of your friends' favourite game. You can play Hearts, President or even Cards Against Humanity. As long as you can keep track of points, you can turn any game into a tournament. Make some cool scoresheets, and buy a bunch of bulk candy, and distribute the candy among your friends so it can be used to bet on the outcome of each round. Or before you start a new round, have everyone put some of their candy in an empty bowl in the middle of the table. The winner of each round gets all of the candy in the bowl and it starts again for the next round. When playing this way, you can keep going until one of the players runs out of candy and the tournament is over.

$$ Activities

Breakfast for Supper

In true Leslie Knope fashion, look for an all-day breakfast restaurant in your city and go out with your girls to get waffles for dinner. It's cute, it's delicious, and it's lots of fun. If you want to cut the price, invite your friends over and cook up some late-night pancakes and bacon yourselves. You can never go wrong with great breakfast food. If you want to get fancy, mix up some mimosas as well for the full evening-brunch experience.

Visit an Art Gallery

Look up your local art galleries and see if there are any cool, upcoming exhibits that your friends would love. It's easy to spend hours on end wandering the gallery and talking about your favourite pieces. For an added twist, have your friends bring their sketchbooks or notebooks and try drawing your favourite pieces, or each other. There's something special about sitting around and sketching while surrounded by iconic works of art. If your friends would rather not draw, try bringing a camera (no flash of course, you don't want to get kicked out on Galentine's) and taking photos of your gang recreating the poses of famous paintings and sculptures a la BeyoncΓ© and Jay at the Louvre.

$$$ Activities

Going to the Spa

If you really want to treat yourselves, take a trip to the spa. Get pampered by the pros by getting relaxing massages, facials or manicures as a group. It will cost some serious cash, but the experience will be super worth it.

Going Out For a Fancy Dinner

Take your gang somewhere nice. Pick a cool new restaurant you've all been dying to try, or that fancy place that you only go for special occasions and make a reservation. You and your friends can get all dressed up and have a fun night out on the town. It's nice to have something to celebrate, and today you get to celebrate your best friends! Cheers to that. 🍾 ✨

There you have it! If you have any more great Galentine's activities, leave them in the comments below.

Wishing everyone the ultimate Galentine's day,

xoxo
